Oh what a HAPPY DAY! I Won The Bike!

    PublicSurplus AuctionWIN.jpg

It was a pretty amazing birthday all around.

A friend of mine took off work to help me celebrate.

We started the day by taking my big guy, the Kawasaki 1600 Nomad, up the peninsula to a shop that came highly recommended by a fellow rider from work. The Kaw needed to get his brake lines flushed, oil changed, and a new state inspection. The guys there seemed pretty nice. I'm hoping they work out because I need an alternative to the one motorcycle dealership's shop here on my side of the water.

After leaving the Kaw in the shop's capable hands, we went to breakfast at a Mom & Pop place nearby.
When we were finished filling up on some good greasy-spoon food, we headed back across the HRBT to do some gun shopping and model testing on their shooting range.

    I think I'm going to buy a Bersa BP9CC...

    BersaBP9MCC.jpg

I've shot several different caliber pistols before - from a shotgun to 48 to tiny 22 - but this was the first time shooting a 9mm. They didn't have a Bersa I could shoot, but the rental gun was interesting. There was more kick than I expected and... well, this is wandering off topic, but I do think I want a 9mm.

Our range time was just an hour but it felt longer. On our way back to the house, we got a coffee, sat and talked a while, and I logged into the Public Surplus to discover I'd won the motorcycle.
This is awesome news because it will give me a 'buddy bike' that my friend can use when we go riding in the mountains. We made plans to use said bike up in the Blue Ridge just as soon as the weather permitted, then went to an early dinner.

Last bit of goodness happened when I got home and found a package on the front porch. It was my new summer weight Fly Flux mesh jacket! Now I have a complete summer riding outfit.

This really has been a great day

I would have rather paid for the food than the ammo! Either was a nice treat though!
