2016 Haibike Sduro FullNine RX - Top of My List!

After selling my T-Dub and waiting on the 2016 motorcycle models to come out, I've gotten very interested in the Electric Assist Mountain Bikes. Been posting some of my research in the Electrification Of Transportation thread. Lots of very interesting E-bikes out there, but I've zeroed in on the 2016 Haibike Sduro FullNine RX as my likely next adventure play toy. Even old guys like me can have a good time on these!

I'm 55 years old, 6"2" and now approaching 230lbs., so the FullNine RX should fit me well with it's 55cm largest frame and 1195mm axle-to-axle length. I like the idea of keeping the speeds to 20mph and wearing much more comfortable light weight gear; including a breezy bicycle helmet in sunny SoCal. Who knows, I may even get my weight going in the other direction!

Guess what else? I'll still be riding Yamaha.

This one illustrates the components, but unfortunately it is in another language (nice video of the bikes details though).

    And final a recent review

    And the hot rodding begins!

Of course on this bike it just keeps "assisting" you past the 20mph mark. It doesn't have a no pedal throttle, so you have to be in pdeal pumping mode.

Very slick trick. One can easily weld a threaded tab on the swingarm and attachment point on the crank to make the switch with nuts, bolts and tools as desired...

If you step up to the Sduro AllMtn RX you get Electronic Suspension. Pretty cool technology.

One more level up and you reach the Sduro AllMtn Pro with higher end components and push button seat post control. Whoa!

Can't find a Southern California dealer or USA one either... Then I found this.

Haibike Bringing Yamaha-powered SDURO Line To The US

Guess I'll have to wait for next month to find out what is going on.

2016 Haibike SDURO FullNine RX new color scheme.

    Me like-y!

Check out this short video of a similar Hiabike riden by a true down hill mountain bike guy. Note the comment at the end. Some of the old school human powered mountain bike guys aren't getting the new electric assist bikes.

Watching this video pushes me towards the AllMtn with its' 150mm suspension instead of the FullNine with 100mm. Watch that suspension work. Very impressive! I don't think my T-Dub had that much suspension.

These bikes are only weighing in at 47lbs. and no range limit on an electric/human hybrid...

    Damn that price tag...

For those that are interested in E-MTB's or bicycles in general, the annual Interbike show is coming up in two weeks at the Mandalay Bay Convention Center in Las Vegas. They set aside one day for the general public, Friday September 18th. It's $20 to get in, see all the bikes and they have an indoor test track set up. A quick Google search on "Interbike 2015" will get you all the info you need.

Go break-a-leg (lol) and win some money at the tables... Cheers!

    Attended The 2015 Interbike Show

This annual Interbike show is huge. Made a whirlwind drive out to Las Vegas early morning, probably walked several miles inside the show, test rode: Hiabike XDURO All Mtn Pro Bosch CX & SDURO Yamaha Hardtail (?), Shimano STePS, ProdecoTech Fat Tire Bafang new 1000W bolt-on Mid-Drive Hardtail and a Bafang (?) Mid-Drive built-in; then hit the Bass Pro Shop thinking I could have an exotic lunch, but because the Vegas store is attached to the Silverton Casino it's one of their few stores that don't have restaurants. Had to settle for a bacon cheese burger and root beer float at Johnny Rocket's inside the casino. $16 later I was back on the road heading home. About 550 miles round trip from 4:00am to 8:00pm averaging 34mpg in the Mini Cooper GT at 70-80mph (if you don't drive 75mph and above you actually impede traffic!). Managed to sneak down Cajon pass without getting shot at by the Sherriff Helicopter Sniper too.

In short, it's a great show to attend if you are into bicycles of all kinds. Just about everything you can imagine in one place. Hiabike clearly stood out in the E-MTB arena. I didn't see the new Specialized E-MTB(?). KTM bicycles looked great, but none available to test ride. Smith helmets, glasses and gear were phenomenal. I think my next pair of Rx glasses with be Smith. Raleigh had one TEKOA iE Trail E-Bike there, but it wasn't in the test ride area. That is their new hardtail Trail E-Bike with front shocks and Shimano STePS mid-drive "gravel" MTB (not sure what that really means - possibly not rated for rough stuff?).

The Hiabike XDURO All Mtn Pro Bosch (NEW) "CX" Mid-Drive MTB fully with triple tree front forks was awesome! Best E-Bike and suspension I have ridden, but at one of the highest prices out there:

    Haibike

The Hiabike SDURO Fully 29 RX Yamaha Mid-Drive is still on the top of my list. It will meet general all around needs with its' unique dual front sprockets (not available on the Bosch) and is a much better value at a slightly more than half the Pro above. The Yamaha Mid-Drives actually feel more natural and smoother to me:

    Haibike

Brought back a nice 2016 Hiabike catalog of all their models that isn't available at the stores or online. Their US site is finally up, but when you click on the SPECS it doesn't let you scroll down yet. I'm sure they are hard at work bringing the US site up to snuff:

    Haibike USA | SDURO / XDURO3

Some of the fat tire hardtails and even full suspension bikes are interesting. A hardtail with fat or semi-fat tires is a consideration for sure. You can also use an internal rear hub and gates belt with a hardtail and the fat tires give you a little rear cushion.

ProdecoTech makes a new Shimano SDI powered Rebel X with a huge hardtail frame and fat tires that felt real nice to sit and stand on. The size fit me well (Super XL). Their show model had triple tree forks on it, but their site doesn’t show that. The rep said it was priced at $2,500 and he can give me a $100 discount and ship from Florida for free (not ready to pull the trigger yet myself):

Home | Electric Bikes | ProdecoTech //electric bicycles that make sense : Electric Bikes | ProdecoTech //electric bicycles that make sense

All in all, the trip was well worth it. My current favorite E-Bike didn’t change though. Wish Hiabike had a 2016 SDURO Fully 29 RX there to test ride, but the Yamaha Hardtail Mid-Drive Hiabike tested felt great with regard to the motor.

Now we sit and wait for the 2016 models to arrive in the USA and "real" OTD prices to be quoted...

Haibike (XDURO Bosch DownHill Pro $8,899 - OMG!):

Raleigh (and Cobi? Smart phone integration):

Who's that funny looking guy in the back ground at 5:30 to 5:35 and again in the right background texting on his cell phone starting at 8:22 to 10:48? My 2+ minutes of fame! Lol...

Very sweet looking bikes. Would let an aging 40 something like myself enjoy some of the trails the younger guy's ride.
