my research is not showing positive results I find everything is just a little off from OEM specs and there is no consistency between parts. they "look" good but they don't fit so for a few bucks more I'll stick with genuine Yamaha parts

You think some ZS parts could be used with a tiny bit of regular person machining?

the tolerances vary from part to part it would be better to machine a whole new kit from scratch but OEM kicker kits still exist in corners of the TW world they just aren't "cheap"

Just call Bay Area Yamaha in Oregon and save yourself the hassle by getting a real Yamaha parts kit.

    should be $250+shipping

    Hi,

I'm looking to add a kickstart to my 95 XT225, am I right in thinking all I need to get is:

    ZS001007 & ZS001201 from china-parts.co.uk

and the idler gear, which I think might be label as neutral gear 21120-L067-0000 on china-parts.co.uk

    Thanks

That's where I got my kit. Still sitting on the shelf in my garage. Maybe I'll get off my ass this winter and do the install. Bay Area was great to work with. Ship everything you need for the job. Just not sure if even they still put a kit together, but do give it a shot. Their strait up.

Yamaha still makes the parts but just not the old kits. I had a dealer source all the parts individually and with a decent discount I paid $275 plus shipping. Bay Area seems like a better deal if they still put the full kits together. You just have remember to get the correct kick shaft boss for the TW or the XT225 which are very different but the kicker itself fits on either of the bosses. The TW boss that goes over the shaft is longer to allow clearance of the wider frame when the kick is used.

I'm in the UK. A Yamaha dealer can get the parts for £375, which is about $476, far too much. If the Zongshen parts fit it looks like it'll be around £65 once I've bought a clutch cover gasket and shaft seal, which is more reasonable. We get ripped off over here. I usually end up in OH with work each year but I didn't think to look at getting a kit while I was there last month.
