Well, it's louder than I wanted, but 'ya know. My brother and I thought that maybe the exhaust was causing it to not rev out, so I had this slip on for a YZ426 laying around for another project, so I just loped off the stock muffler, and welded this up. I think it looks great, and I've ridden it briefly, and it seems better, but it's too early to tell.

My experience: At high speeds lack of fuel will cause a thumping until you slow a bit and it will run fine. We experienced this on a trip when a clogged fuel sock caused this. My TW was doing this due to a leaking air boot allowing extra air leaning it out. I think a bigger jet may help some. Air flow around the filter also affects this. You may end up with too much flow for the size engine with no beneficial gains. Here is an untested idea I have had. With no air box you still need some restriction. I was thinking about a thin metal disk which would fit in the filter tube inlet. Drill lots of holes in it. Too rich, add more holes. Too lean, try a new disk put a few less holes. Just an idea, not tested.

Some have stated the rev limiting factor on the TW is the cam. I don't know this for sure or the best cam for the job. This may be top secret. I'm currently tinkering with a cam mod but haven't completed my set up.

So, I've got Darryl running pretty sweet now. Opening up the exhaust made a world of difference, I've got the jetting dialed in, and put Seafoam in the gas tank to eat the carbon off the piston and valves and it keeps getting better and better. Last night I figured out a way to mount my newest attempt at a reasonably cool seat. It's the pilon or passenger seat for a Harley Sportster. So far, it's my best attempt. Whatcha think?

Looks like it was designed for it with that tank.

Okay, so I had the bike running really well. Long short of it is: it all of the sudden stopped pulling fuel from the carb and into the motor. Plug is completely dry, compression is at 150psi, and the motor will fire right up and run as long as I am fluttering my hand over the carb intake to get it to suck up the fuel. I've completely disassembled and cleaned the carb. Never seen anything like this before. Fuel is in the carb, carb is clean, but engine won't pull the fuel in.

    Any ideas?

Since I was planning on replacing the carb anyway, I went ahead and ordered a Mikuni TM28-1 to slap on it. But I'm still interested if anyone else has had anything like this happen to them. I don't have a clue. It was running great, then...nothing
