    UHMW Skid Plate

Purchased a 24" square sheet of UHMW for $37. Drove to Yakima to pick it up because shipping nearly doubled the cost of ordering online. Gonna shape it into an indestructible skid plate. While I was looking online for ideas and inspiration for the shape and the desired coverage I came across hyde racing. Their skid plate for the ttr230 looks like it just might fit the TW200. Anyone have an opinion on this? Interesting design as it guards the header pipe as well as the undercarriage. Also looking at SXS skid plates. Theirs are made of 1/4" UHMW and look great. Gonna heat and bend the UHMW. Anyone have experience with this already?

Many folks have used cutting boards as the base material for their skid plate fab.

The original SXS plates were pretty simplistic. Square-ish and a little boxy but worked good. I watched this guy bend some up on the spot for customers at the Desert 100 one year.

The company has come a long way. New plates are much better contoured and really form fitting.

Here is the template or pattern for his generic dirt bike plate. Notice that his plates are one piece construction and extend back to cover the linkage as well. Super duty

Here are some images of the Hyde racing skid plate that is intended for the Yamaha ttr 230. Some sort of plastic type material. The mounting points may not be exactly right but this thing looks like it would either fit the TW or could be made to fit. $120 on their website.
