    New TW owner

Just purchased a 1996 TW200. This bike hadn't seen the light of day for about 2 years. It lived in a storage container. After buying it a new battery, draining the gas, adding new gas and seafoam the bike fired right up! As a new owner I am wondering what other maintenance and up keep I should do to the bike.

    Greetings!
It is always smart to change the oil.
And if it has the stock metal screen oil filter, you just clean it and put it back in.
If it has a paper oil filter, there is a danger of getting the wrong filter replacement, even from the dealer, with the correct part number.
I forget now so someone with a memory can fill in the details, but the correct filter has more holes in the back than the incorrect one.
The wrong filter will block the oil flow to the head and cause a major engine failure.

New spark plug never hurts, but other than that, just ride it!

Welcome to the low and slow gang

Thanks for the advice! I went and grabbed a couple quarts of oil and a filter. Made sure it was the right one with the holes. Going to attempt my first oil change tomorrow!

You have scored the biggest smile inducer on the market. You might want to invest in a set of JIS screwdrivers. Japanese Industrial Standard. Your "phillips" screw heads will thank you for it. Our regular phillips drivers will strip the heads easily. Let the fun begin.
