    Mounting a trail tech viper

My son dinged up his front end so I replaced the OEM speedo and indicators with a trail tech viper. I didn't like the bar mount/location, so I did a cheap modification to mount it between the ignition and jumbo shield. I used the inside of the turn signals as the bolt on location. I used a steel strip, cut it to length, 2 90 degree bends, and drilled a few holes. A little grinding of the ends was needed to get it to fit where it bolts in due to the width of the strip. I also used the mounting bracket that came with the trail tech dashboard, after bending it about 45 degrees. Fits perfect and my son is very happy to be back in action. I may do the same to mine now, if I can sell my stock meter/indicators. There is still room to add a few toggle switches as a "dashboard" for future mods.

I also did a few mods to mine while working on my son's: Renthal Fatbar (blue), moose contour hand guards and deflectors, seat hitch pins, battery tender, yz shifter, and dark blue Jimbo shield. Cycle rack is in the mail. Then it's fuel cells, tool tubes, gun scabbard, etc. image.jpgimage.jpgimage.jpgimage.jpgimage.jpg

I forgot to mention the large pegs from DMO too...as you can see in the shifter pic. My wife made me promise I wouldn't make any modifications to my new diesel p/u, but she didn't know about the tdub cult!! Mods are much cheaper, so maybe she won't notice for awhile. Better hurry up and order some more parts.

Very good idea on the instrument mount. Good solid location on the power outlet as well.

Your post is a good reason why folks on here should look/read every post...you never know when/what good idea's will come up.

Thanks. I was happy with the way it turned out considering it was just a spur of the moment deal. I just wasn't thrilled about the handle bar mount that it came with and couldn't come up with an idea that I liked rigging it from the bar clamps. Those signal mounts just seemed perfect. Doesn't budge and well protected by the shield.

    .

I mounted mine by making an aluminum bracket that mounts to the same two locations the stock spedo bracket uses.
