At the junction of Golden Spike-Poison Spider, two riders keep heading down the trail towards camp while the rest of us four ride a loop section of the Poison Spider Trail.
While not the most technical part of the 3 trails we rode today, I sure had a lot of fun zipping up & down and in & out of the slick rock and sand berm sections. Unfortunately, I'm a lot slower than I thought I was but at least I had fun.
P.S. trail we rode is generally marked green.
Riding was a lot less technical as we rode a combo of sand and slick rock
Up & down we go yippy!
Stay on the marked trail when you get to the top of one of the slick rock climbs. Straying off trail may have negative consequences.
There were a couple overlooks up on the cliff and we went to one. We thought we were riding to the arch overlook but our navigational devices weren't working. Actually, I don't think we were looking at them...having to much fun riding.

Stig not having fun in the sand
We completed the loop in record time. Just not sure of our time so you'll have to take my word. Hey, Stig fell over in the sand so you know we were going fast.
After riding the loop up on Poison Spider we reconnect to the main trail and head down the hill to the trailhead and then back to camp via the paved highways.
Earlier in this post or another post somewhere here on the forum I spoke of passing some riders we met earlier on Golden Spike. I really hope they were smiling at our accomplishing the Golden Crack a few minutes before. However, I think they were smiling (laughing inside) that our bikes had license plates!
Sure wish I was wearing jeans and a flannel shirt with torn-off sleeves. Was thinking of gluing a straw hat to the top of my helmet for future Moab trail rides. (Don't worry grewen, I won't glue a straw hat on for our upcoming meet up in Moab.
I think this rider posed for me! I wouldn't have looked nearly as motorcycle-ish as this smartly dressed fellow with his matching outfit. Very metrosexual out on the trail don't you think!
Anyway, I digress. Up top on the main trail we ride waves of slick rock which was less than smooth riding
As we started our descent to the trailhead...wait for it...down by the river!! Some sections of the trail were a little technical
Kind of glad we were heading downhill at this point
I know we were worn out but I didn't need to keep seeing this stuff.
Did I mention I was glad we were heading down
Oofta, finally down. Easy pavement back to camp.
When I got to this point I seriously questioned whether I would ride this trail again. If someone asked me to ride tomorrow or the next day I would have said no.
But today, now that I've had time to recover, maybe! There are harder trails in Moab but these 3 trails (Goldbar - Spike - Spider) will do for now!
And this concludes my day 3.
