Hi all :I’m posting this thread about custom windshield/fairings because I have had an interest in solving this problem for my own bikes, the lack of windshields/fairings designed specifically for my favorite bike the TW. I have 3 of the little beasts myself. Some of you have expressed compliments and interest in what I've come up with so far I am flattered and a bit surprised.
I’ll do what I can to answer some questions here. I haven’t started a business yet. So far the shields I’ve made are made one at a time, Band saw, and drill press, edge conditioning, hot mold jig then the fit check, Etc… So far it looks like a less than break even proposition but I’m working on that.

Hey Jimbo. My advice would be to not worry about a formal business at this point, just think of it as favors for friends for cash ;) . If you enjoy building these, I'm sure there's a demand out there, including me! Just make sure the price you would ask would be worth your time and effort. Tell us how it attaches if you would. Thanks a bunch!

Have money, like look, want. How do we arrange this? I am very unintersted in alledged value for money - I can't make one, no body other than you does, so, how much you want?

Copy That HD-7. Well I’ll be going out to the barn and getting some pictures to post for you here, but it's pretty simple. The fairing has a specific shape and two holes. You just unscrew you current TW front cowl and remove it, locate the two rubber grommets on the cowl mounting posts and remove them both. (This takes a small screwdriver and some silicone lube so as not to damage them, they have a cone shaped or counter sunk edge on the inside of them that makes them easier to re-install, but quite hard to initially get off) then you install two rubber grommets (I provide them) onto the posts followed by the original grommets. All that’s left to do is slightly flex the shield holes onto the posts, then reinstall the TW’s cowl back onto the standard grommets and screw her down.
The shield bottom rests in the groove located in the upper headlight opening, and is quite rigid.
Does this make sense?

There! note the position of lower edge, this edge fits neatly into the upper headlight groove triangulating the fit between the posts and bottom edge of the shield.

Jimbo this is a great idea and looks factory,. I think you have something here that a lot of TW owners will want. As you know there are not a lot of after market parts like this here in the US. If this is something you enjoy doing, then figure out the cost and post in the classified section windshields for sale. I know my son was interested in one but has yet to see one he likes. Yours look great. We both may be interested. So depending on price count us in.

Wow! Thank You Goldenhtr I'm honored. Tomorrow I'm going down to San Diego plastics and find out how much a 4x8 sheet costs and see if I can come up with some kind of figure for my friends here.

Jimbo, these really do look nice. I have a couple questions. Can you post a couple photos of your windshield from the front and maybe a 3/4 view please? How much taller is your windshield than the cowling? Does it divert the air over your head or just chest (how tall are you)? Thanks

It's about 6" over the cowl.
My height is 5'11".
To answer your question (does it divert the air over your helmet?) I will give you a detailed history on another thread describing the development and the how and why the current size was arrived at. I will try to get that up this week.
Here are some angle shots for you.
