Carb/intake

So i have a problem with the intake "hose" from the air box... its not long enough. I found out that it shrinks with age(i have a 91) so i bought a new one. it was a bit longer but still does not fit all the way onto the carb about a 1/4 in short. does the motor side hose shrink too? anyone else have this problem or am i one of a kind. any suggestions?

Motorside doesn't shrink much, it's much shorter.  However I recently replaced both sides on my 1993 just to be sure.

I had the exact same problem with my 1990. I replaced the boot that comes from the air box and it solved my problem. I assume the other boot could shrink too. When I put my new air box to carb boot in I really had to get the angle right in order for it to fit correctly.

If you can't find it, grind it.

And all along I thought that it was my low skill level that made my boot short. I can't make mine connect unless I get the angle exactly right.

Thanks for this !

Wow good to know! My 91 has the same problem! I have it wedged back in there where it should be but I can't get it to reach carb-air filter box. I thought I must be crazy...looks like time to replace that, any idea what they're going for? Know anybody who ships international?
